Labour increased its lead in the polls to 21 points over the beleaguered Conservatives following their double by-election defeats in Tamworth and Mid Bedfordshire. 

The latest voter intention poll by WeThink revealed Labour’s support rose by four points to 48% while the Tores dropped a point to 27%.

The news comes as Labour overturned huge Conservative majorities to win Thursday's (19^th October 2023) two by-elections in Mid Bedfordshire and Tamworth, victories hailed as “history in the making” by Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer.

Meanwhile, WeThink also discovered that voter support for Labour would increase ahead of the next general election if they were clear about re-joining the European Union.

When asked if it would make them more or less likely to vote for Labour if the party backed rejoining the EU, 33% of voters said it would make them more likely to vote Labour. 

30% said it would make no difference, 25% said it would make them less likely to vote Labour while 11% said they didn’t know.
